Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled GCP SRE (Site Reliability Engineer) to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and performance of our data services on GCP. Your expertise in GCP data services (BigQuery, Dataproc, Cloud Composer, GCS), cloud logging and monitoring, and New Relic will be crucial in developing and maintaining a robust monitoring and alerting system.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and optimize GCP data services including BigQuery, Dataproc, Cloud Composer, and GCS.
  • Implement and manage cloud logging and monitoring solutions using GCP tools.
  • Utilize New Relic for advanced monitoring and performance analysis.
  • Create and maintain monitoring and metrics dashboards using GCP Operations Suite (formerly Stackdriver).
  • Continuously assess and improve data infrastructure to enhance reliability and performance.
  • Define and implement alerting policies, user journeys, SLIs (Service Level Indicators), SLOs (Service Level Objectives), and SLAs (Service Level Agreements).
  • Collect, route, and create log-based metrics using GCP Cloud Logging.
  • Develop a robust alerting system to proactively identify and resolve issues before they impact users.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and deliver scalable solutions.
  • Stay updated with the latest trends and best practices in GCP SRE and data services.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  1. GCP Data Services: Proficiency in GCP data services, including BigQuery, Dataproc, Cloud Composer, and GCS.
  2. Cloud Logging and Monitoring: Advanced knowledge of cloud logging and monitoring tools, specifically within the GCP ecosystem.
  3. New Relic: Experience with New Relic for monitoring and performance analysis.
  4. Monitoring Dashboards: Ability to create monitoring and metrics dashboards using GCP Operations Suite.
  5. Infrastructure Improvement: Experience in continuously assessing and improving data infrastructure.
  6. Alerting Policies: Expertise in defining user journeys, SLIs, SLOs, and SLAs, and implementing effective alerting policies.
